Semperfli Waxed Thread 6/0 was created using a technique similar to those used to make Nano Silk. Very thin strands of polyester were extruded, then slightly twisted and treated with a very light layer of wax, almost imperceptible to the touch. The fact of having slightly twisted thin fibres, allow to the Semperfli Waxed Thread 6/0 to be mounted flat on the hook and to be easily divisible for mounting in a loop.
Available in a wide range of classic colours, but also modern and fluorescent, even in the versions Semperfli Waxed Thread 12/0 e Semperfli Waxed Thread 8/0. Extremely resistant, very high breaking strength, almost impossible to break, even in the thinnest size. Breaking strength: 6/0 938gm (33.01oz), 8/0 754gm (26.6oz), 12/0 489gm (17.25oz).
Waxed threads have been used for a long time by professional fly tiers, typical examples are the Catskill school, where characters like Dette and Darbee family members made great use of it. They combine excellent resistance with a minimum thickness and flatten well, without creating annoying accumulations of thread even in very small flies. Their multi-filament composition is excellent for dressing in a loop, with CDC Super Select, with Martie's Natural Chamois or with Martie's Coloured Chamois.
