To find the origins of the use of CDC in the dressing of artificial flies we must go back to the 1920s and 1930s, on the trail of two tiers of the time, as Maximilian Joset e Charles Bickel. The first original flies of which we have knowledge today were very basic and essential, known as Mouche of Vallorbe and Mustique du Jura. Before Henri Bresson with his original fly Cul de Canard, later Marian Fratnik in the 1980s, were the first to use a full feather in the making of a fly.

Marc Petitjean ties flies with CDC since the second half of the 1980s. At that time He tried to roll the whole CDC feather on the hook. Experimenting, he realised that this method gave a very high buoyancy and visibility to the artificial fly. In fact, he invented the CDC body. Few years later He began his career as a professional fly tier, based in a large house-workshop in Freiburg, Switzerland. We can say that nowadays He is one of the most appreciated contemporary fly dressers in the world.
