Known for it’s rich fishing heritage, Staithes was once one of the largest fishing ports on the North East coast of England. In its heyday there were just under 300 men engaged in fishing and delivering their catch to the rest of the United Kingdom. This stunning scene Seagulls at Staithes is by Roger Neil Turner, who is well known for his delightful harbour paintings.

Roger Neil Turner was born in Great Bridge, West Midlands, in 1956 and has been painting from a very young age. Growing up in Australia, he returned to England in 1976 and paints representational art in oils, acrylics, watercolours and pastels. Roger employs an eclectic mix of styles and techniques in his work and well known for his stunning harbour paintings.
