The Australian Opossum was widely used as dubbing both in 18th and 19th century and several dressing of wet flies using Opossum fur were described in Edmonds and Lee in 1916.
The color of this fur can range from honey, brown and red and it is much more appreciated than the American cousin.
It has a very fine texture with excellent underfur for bodies of dry flies like the Ausable Wulff. Perfect when dark cream or tan are called as body color in the dressing of dry flies and nymphs. There are long guard hairs that can be used as tails or as wings in streamers and wet flies.
